Mustang car club

Post by ND4SPD »

I was wondering if they are any members of the mustang car club of Aruba on this board, haven't heard much lately, do they have an activities schedule? what else do they do ?, I remember a couple of years ago they had a day at the track, I thought that was really cool, I wish they could do it again next year, what do you gearheads think ???? :drivin:

ND4SPD, you have come up with a ghost from the past. MCA still exists, but is not very active like they used to be.
That time when we organized the Mustang Shootout (Titanium, Juice, Betto Arends, Roland Thijsen and myself) it was awesome, however due to personal reasons we could not continue to be part of the board, so we went our seperate ways. Also there was not much interest and participation on behalf of the 50 members we had signed up. The next board cosisted of older gentlemen and they were not really interested in organizing such an event, as a matter of fact they are really interested in organizing anything other than cruises with the same stops.
I think it would be nice to organize such an event again, there are many mustangs of all years on the island. I know the couple years we were in charge we were able to raise respectable amounts of funds for MCA, I am sure there is not much of that left today. If I get a bunch of guys like I had with me on the board the last time, I think we could turn it around. Maybe when Greg comes back we can give it another shot along with other serious individuals.
Kenneth feel free to join them and support them, if they come up with a decent calender for the 2007 year (10th anniversary), I will strongly consider rejoining them.

Hey Greg I heard you got a 06 Pony?

Mustang Club of Aruba was founded by Mr. Eric de Cuba, Mr. Frank Abbath, Mr. Beto Arends, and myself Mr. Gregory Croeze. That was in 1997. Soon after, I moved to the US to pursue my education. Mr. Rodney Bareno replaced me as board member. We had approx. 30-35 members. Board members changed during the years. When I returned to Aruba in 2002 I was pointed (not elected) as president of a club that was going extinct. Together with Cobra, Titanium, Roland Thijsen, and Beto Arends we kind of brought the club back to life. Cobra became president the next year and things were rolling. As he mentioned, we got some sponsors along the way. I remember, the raffle I did generated about Awg 6,000 to the club together with the Car Show I did at the main Post Office.
I think the club still exist. Mr. Roland Thijsen was in charge of a parade last I saw them (this past summer). Hopefully it won't die because we put a lot of effort in it. It has its own statute and is a legal entity.
That was a brief recap on my part.

Cobra, the pony has already been sold. Next year I might add one that will stay in the collection. Waiting for the Shelby prices to drop...;-)

Trust me, when Juice gets back, and Cobra has the time, the club will explode and come out swinging in a different style. Back in those days we were younger, now we are a little more seasoned in the auto dept. so this will add for some great things in the future. It will only be a matter of getting it back from the "older" guys. If not, we could always introduce a competion for them. PEACE!

Patience is a motherfucking virtue, let me tell ya!!

I have pissed off everyone I know at least once...the ones closer to me....at least twice....

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part!
